JUSTIN TOMLINSON IS MP OF THE WEEK.
Our hero this week is Justin Tomlinson (pictured), MP for Swindon North.
Mr Tomlinson has given backing to PetrolPromise.com, in the run-up to an MPs debate this Thursday. The debate is expected to urge the Government to launch a tough investigation into allegations of oil fraud and market manipulation at the pumps.
Speaking exclusively to PetrolPromise.com, Mr Tomlinson said:
"Two key price pressures – oil price and fuel duty – have pushed up costs at the petrol pumps over the last decade. It has now got to the point where local residents are being forced off the road and clearly action is needed."
"It is absolutely vital for families and businesses that we fight for a fair deal on the forecourts. I have consistently raised the need for action on fuel duty as soon as financially possible, and with the Office of Fair Trading now taking an interest, it is clear that we also need to tackle the unfair and dishonest practices of the oil industry."
"Even a small respite in the seemingly endless upward march of fuel prices would be a welcome boost for hard pressed families, businesses and our economy, both in Swindon and across the country."
Well done Justin! We need more MPs like him.
